More trifold cards

I made a few more tri-fold cards for the craft fair I went to on June 29th and 30th. I forgot to take pictures before I put them in the plastic, so sorry about the bags. Since none of them sold, I took one of each out of the bags and took pictures again once I got home. So here they are without the bags, thanks for being patient with me.

This one I stamped 4 different sized star stamps on the red paper with my Versamark watermark ink, that makes an image just slightly darker shade than the paper. I then mounted the green star paper on the smaller of the two folds. I cut a light blue square and then a smaller square out of the green star paper and layered the two squares. I cut out a star using my sizzlet die and layered that on the squares. I placed the squares on the flap in a diamond configuration.

Same card as the one above, but using blue cardstock for the base instead of red.

I had fun creating this card. When I went to Micheal's last week, I bought a package of sparkly colored hot glue sticks. I made a dot of the red sparkly hot glue on a scrap paper and stamped it with one of my flower rubber stamps. After the glue had cooled a bit, I pulled the stamp out of the glue and it made the impression that is mounted on the square on this card. For the rest of the card, I stamped the flower stamp that I used with the hot glue on the red paper with my versamark pad. I then mounted the flower patterned paper on the smaller flap (this paper has glitter in the center of the flowers). I cut a square of the red cardstock, inked the edges so it stood out a little and then layered it with a smaller square of the flower patterned paper. I then mounted the hot glue flower seal in the middle of this layered square and mounted the square on the card.

Trifold Cards

Today I was resting and trying to think of a card to make (well, really I was trying to take a nap but couldn't fall asleep and my mind kept drifting to cards). I've never tried a tri-fold card before besides a template I downloaded for my Craft Robo, which was completely made for me. I decided to play around with a piece of card stock, seeing what I could come up with. I first cut the card stock in half, making it 4 1/4 inches by 11 inches. I then decided that I'd need to have half the card be the size of the card (5 1/2 inches). I then decided to try the two sides slightly different sizes, one 3 1/4 inches and the other 2 1/4 inches. That worked really well for the basic template. Then I set about deciding how to decorate it.

Micheals had their patterned paper on sale last week for 4 for $1 instead of 59 cents each. I found this flower paper by "Die Cuts With a View" that has glitter in the center of all the flowers. I decided it would work well as a design element on cards so picked up a few different colors and designs. I love this blue one so decided to use it on this trifold card. I made the smaller part purple to match the purple in the flowers. After that I looked through my Cuttlebug embossing folders and found this flower that kind of matched the paper. I embossed it in my Cuttlebug machine, cut it out, and then mounted it on green cardstock cut out with my "Whale of a punch" circle punch. After mounting it on the card, I decided it need something more. I went lightly over the top with my versamark pad, put heat and stick powder on it, then used my heat gun. After making it sticky, I put some white perfect pearl powder on it, heat it again to set it, and then rubbed off the excess. It added just enough sparkle to match the glitter in the center of the flowers on the patterned paper.

On this card I put the red cardstock on first, then looked through my scraps and found the star paper. After mounting that, I found 3 different size acrylic star stamps (again from the Studio G $1 sets from Micheals) and arranged those 4 stamps on an acrylic block. I then stamped the red cardstock with a versamark pad and the star stamps all over it. After that I cut out the blue square with my "Whale of a punch" square punch and then mounted it on the same color red as the card. It didn't stand out enough on the red side of the card, so I inked the edges with blue ink. I found a star die cut in my collection of sizzlets dies that matched the star stamps pretty close, at least the basic shape, so I cut that out, inked it so it kind of matched the red square and mounted it so it overlapped both flaps. I think it turned out pretty good, especially since this was the first trifold card I ever designed.

I had fun playing with the trifold card idea and will probably make more of them later. The star one would make a good 4th of July greeting card.
